2009 sees Jason return to haunt the shallow waters and damp

February 2, 2009 08:00 by Admin
2009 sees Jason return to haunt the shallow waters and damp, squeaky wooden houses at Camp Crystal Lake in the latest retake on Friday the 13th. The movies’ promos had been release about a month back and people are getting excited over the prospect of seeing Amanda Righetti square-off against that masked freak (Jason). Amanda isn’t all together new to this sort of a role. She did star in the as the leading lady in Return to House on Haunted Hill. That experience would do her good as she is going to be spooked (much, more I would say) by Jason and the creepy surroundings of Crystal Lake. Yes, this time too Friday the 13th will have innocent campers who just can’t avoid getting their guts splattered but with much less making-out scenes (I wonder why??).    This adaptation of Friday the 13th has been completed in about a year (2008). This was also the year that saw Amanda grow in stature, starring as Grace Van Pelt in the CBS hit series ‘The Mentalist’. Amanda has been catching eyeballs for some time now. She was impressive during her short stints in CSI, The O.C. and The North Shore too. If Friday the 13th does well, it could easily be Amanda’s stepping stone towards bagging big-time Hollywood projects.

I am a big fan of Friday the 13th series

February 2, 2009 07:58 by Admin
When it comes to slasher movies, I am a big fan of Friday the 13th series. I still find it difficult to understand why people can’t comprehend that to have a good slasher you need some nudity, stupidity and lots of college/high school folks to get butchered. Friday the 13th has always had these and I must say that Kane Hodder (as Jason) in 7th, 8th and 9th part of the series was amazing. He was a stuntman by profession and that translated into his body language of being a convincing killer.  Now, the latest of the series, actually a remake by Michael Bay, is being released this February and I hope Derek Mears (the new Jason) does justice to the brutality of his character that is so central to Friday the 13th. Another factor that may work in the favour of the movie is the presence of Amanda Righetti. I have been following her ascent in Hollywood since her days of making special appearances in CSI and this is definitely a role she can deliver. Amanda has this amazing on-screen presence and it would be great to see her try and fight-off Jason’s madness. Amanda would benefit from the presence of a very capable director in Marcus Nispel.

Friday the 13th franchise has been a cult classic

February 2, 2009 07:54 by Admin
Friday the 13th franchise has been a cult classic for people who have been following the indestructible Jason coming back time and again to rip apart some more campers at Crystal Lake. The newest remake of the classic original will be released by Paramount in February. The movie is surely creepy but that is something integral to Friday the 13th movies. Nearly every video, promo and poster justifies this impression. I guess things have changed drastically since the original was made. Movies that are able to trace the creation of a monster tend to be received better than the audiences and this is something this chapter of Friday the 13th tries to do as Jason’s history is delved into. Our moviegoers have got used to more gory and violent sort of horror movies and this is where the new Friday the 13th will have to compete. However, one thing that is in its favour is the presence of a very notable leading lady — Amanda Righetti. There is something very convincing about Amanda’s presence in the promos and hopefully she might end up doing what no other leads of Friday the 13th have ever done before — put an end to Jason’s rage. This is also Amanda’s latest attempt at succeeding in a major motion picture and a good opening could catapult her into Hollywood’s big league.

Amanda Righetti on ‘The Mentalist’ (CBS)

January 28, 2009 11:45 by Admin
Everyone who has been admiring Amanda Righetti on ‘The Mentalist’ (CBS) has one big reason to cheer. She is going to be the female lead in the new version of Friday the 13th due to be released this February. Amanda has been making steady progress since her days of starring in the teenage-centred ‘O.C.’ and ‘CSI’. These shows rarely did Amanda any justice. Though, she is very appeasing as Grace Van Pelt in the ‘The Mentalist’, a proper female lead role was in order and that is what 2009’s Friday the 13th is going to do for her. The movie promises to be a bit different from the somewhat forgetful sequels that followed the original of 1980-81.  For instance, there would be no more hormone-heavy guys making out with their ladies in the creaky camps. Instead, the story revolves around Whitney (played by Amanda Righetti) who is lost in the woods around Crystal Lake and her brother goes around searching for her. The recently-aired promos of Friday the 13th show Amanda putting up some sort of resistance against the rampaging Jason. I hope Amanda ends up making Jason pay for his massacres and returns for another sequel. Sorry if this sounds too optimistic — I would personally hate to see any harm being done to this lady.

Friday the 13th is due for a new lease of life in 2009

January 28, 2009 11:44 by Admin
This is for all those of you who had been rooting for Freddy (from Nightmare on Elm Street) as the more fear-provoking, slaying bad guy over Jason. As it turns out, Friday the 13th is due for a new lease of life in 2009 — being released this February the 13th whereas Mr. Freddy is nowhere to be seen. Furthermore, this latest addition in the series of sequels that followed the original Friday the 13th has something different to offer. For starters, the cast of Friday the 13th (2009) won’t have a bunch of dumb folks who can only scream and do nothing besides panicking when facing Jason.  Instead, the plot has been re-written and has a concerned and brave bother (Clay) searching for his equally resourceful sister in the woods surrounding Crystal Lake — Jason’s permanent residence. It is the sister (Whitney) played by Amanda Righetti who is grabbing attention as far as the early promos and teasers are concerned. Amanda had every guy’s attention when she appeared in the North Shore and O.C. (popular TV series) and no wonder she finds herself in a major motion picture now. Friday the 13th gives Amanda Righetti ample chance to showcase her talent as the terror-stricken but audacious lady who dares to confront Jason.

Friday the 13th literally put Jason’s character on a horror genre’s pedestal

January 26, 2009 09:43 by Admin

The unexpected success of 1980’s original Friday the 13th literally put Jason’s character on a horror genre’s pedestal along with the likes of Freddy and that ‘Predator’ freak. There were some sequels to the original, but after some time, most of them got a bit repetitive and 2009 promises a more absorbing trip back to Crystal Lake — Jason’s home and hunting ground.

Recently shown promos of Friday the 13th have rotting and creaking cabins, thick, blinding vegetation and hapless cast members running around trying to escape Jason’s wrath. I guess these are must-haves to make Jason look more frightening as just having that demonic mask wouldn’t be as effective on minds that have been numbed to special effect ridden genre of horror movies lately.

This is where the cast of Friday the 13th assumes importance and so does Amanda Righetti — the lady who plays the distraught character of Whitney. She plays the typicalsufferer but with some quality to the protagonist. Her face and expressions look as if she is tailor-made for this role. Amanda Righetti exudes that sensitivity combined with an understated ability of being pretty tough when things go really bad and they do — after all she’s in Friday the 13th— what else needs to go wrong?? For those who haven’t seen her before, you would know why she has been voted twice among the World’s Most Sexy Women (2005 & 2006).

Amanda in Friday the 13th

January 26, 2009 09:39 by Admin

The teasers of the latest in the Friday The 13th Series have been out for some time now and most of trailers look pretty awesome — at least for the slightly perverse and horror-obsessed movie fans like myself. This version of Friday The 13th would be released on the13th of this February (is that a surprise?) and promises to go beyond the story/plot that became a bit stereotyped in the original trilogy. It seems this edition of Friday The 13thwouldn’t have any more of those naive camping counsellors.

Instead, there is a twist to the story with a guy (Clay) searching for his sister (Whitney) in the woods. Yeah, the background is the same with Jason loping in and around Crystal Lake but we have to accept that — that is where he belongs!! Speaking of the cast, 2009’s Friday the 13th has a leading lady who can actually act — that’s Amanda Righetti who plays Whitney. This movie is sure to pitch her as a more-than-capable big screen performer.

This is one lady who is slowly but surely creeping up the Hollywood ladder and manages some very effective close-ups in the teasers aired so far. Amanda has definitely come a long way from her days of playing a clueless girl in O.C. and CSI (T.V. series).

Friday the 13th

January 26, 2009 09:14 by Admin

Horror movies in the last 3 to 4 years have been remakes of the Japanese genre of slow and creepy horror movies (remember The Ring series?) or an effort to carry on the movie franchise of the past years. Continuing in this tradition, the Crystal Lake horror of Friday The 13th returns this season. Remake of “Prom Night” was absolutely awful and so was “One Missed Call.” 2009 would hopefully do a bit better and I am keeping my fingers crossed for Friday The 13th and for seeing Jason slaying people by the bunch.

One more reason for seeing this movie — it has the very beautiful and svelte Amanda Righetti playing the damsel in distress. There are bound to be some similarities between this version and the earlier Friday The 13th series but that is unavoidable. After all, you have to give Jason mossy, wet, damp settings in the backdrop of that cursed Camp Crystal Lake combined with a bunch of unsuspecting people who become his victims.

Friday The 13th has always been about young girls trying to fight it out with Jason, but at one point, their screams etc. became too predictable. This is where Whitney (played byAmanda Righetti) stands out — at least from the pre-release reviews and promos. She has a face that does justice to that of a ‘victim’ who does have guts to fight out Jason or get them spilled out!!

Friday The 13th movie

July 24, 2008 06:33 by Admin

I was just browsing through my poster collection and saw some old of posters and collection of Friday the 13th pics. I remember being a passionate fan of this movie. I saw it when I was very young and even when this movie was banned at my place for being very ghastly and dreadful. I enjoyed every scene, every pause, every shot and last but not the least I loved the cast and the location as well. The 3D effects used in the last sequels are just hard to believe. I really liked the slashing scenes of Jason who according to me is the best slasher ever and the best character of Friday the 13th movie. My friends and I collected so many accessories of this movie even the action figures when we were young. Friday the 13th is the best movie ever.

Friday The 13th movie

July 24, 2008 06:14 by Admin

For those who find the dark side of Cinema most exiting, are always ready for some top notch slasher fun. Friday the 13th is the real deal. Since the time it was made, it has been shelved among the maddest boys in teen slasher and gore genre of Hollywood cinema. The fear and excitement creeps from every corner of this cult classic hit Friday the 13th movie and seizes the spectators imagination of worst nightmares. Filled with screams of those who pay dreadfully with their lives in gruesome ways by the hands of a deformed urban legend beast Jason, Friday the 13th pics and series are still strong enough in its class to scare even the strongest person.
