Horror movies in the last 3 to 4 years have been remakes of the Japanese genre of slow and creepy horror movies (remember The Ring series?) or an effort to carry on the movie franchise of the past years. Continuing in this tradition, the Crystal Lake horror of Friday The 13^th returns this season. Remake of “Prom Night” was absolutely awful and so was “One Missed Call.” 2009 would hopefully do a bit better and I am keeping my fingers crossed for Friday The 13^th and for seeing Jason slaying people by the bunch.  

One more reason for seeing this movie — it has the very beautiful and svelte Amanda Righetti playing the damsel in distress. There are bound to be some similarities between this version and the earlier Friday The 13^th series but that is unavoidable. After all, you have to give Jason mossy, wet, damp settings in the backdrop of that cursed Camp Crystal Lake combined with a bunch of unsuspecting people who become his victims.  

Friday The 13^th has always been about young girls trying to fight it out with Jason, but at one point, their screams etc. became too predictable. This is where Whitney (played byAmanda Righetti) stands out — at least from the pre-release reviews and promos. She has a face that does justice to that of a ‘victim’ who does have guts to fight out Jason or get them spilled out!!
